In 2018, Netflix officially renewed 13 Reasons Why for another season. Due to popular demand, controversial teenage issues, and suspense-filled cliffhangers on the show, the streaming platform gave the series its green light to produce a new installment.

As every fan knows it, the second season ended with several loose ends. Consequently, these events led to several unanswered questions. Not to mention, the cliffhangers held the viewers back from its succeeding plot. Hence, it is just fitting (and it makes total sense) that the show will return with more stories to tell.

According to Inverse, the upcoming season will focus more on moving on and letting go. It's not going to be about Hannah since the rest of the story is about the other involved young people who will get to learn how to heal from previous pains and struggles. Additionally, it will be a way for these young people to learn how to take care of each other as revealed by Brian Yorke, the showrunner of 13 Reasons Why.

Aside from these thoughts about the plot, it has been revealed that Hannah will no longer play an integral part in the storyline. Even so, Hannah Baker's story will always be the base of 13 Reasons Why. Her actions in the first season enabled many young people that surrounded her to become fully aware of the apparent dangers and horrors of being a teenager.

Katherine Langford herself confirmed these things as she expressed her gratitude to everyone who has been very positive about the show and her role as Hannah Baker. She also mentioned that her journey on the show has now come to an end and she's letting Hannah go.

While this farewell is quite saddening for some since Hannah has been the main subject of the two seasons, it is not surprising at all. As it happens, 13 Reasons Why Season 2 ended with everyone in the story finally moving on from Hannah. And this has become more apparent when the second season wrapped up as Hannah's trial reached a verdict.

Accordingly, the upcoming season of the show will focus on everyone outside Hannah.

The development and production of the new installment started in August last year. And based on the publicized schedule, fans will get to watch the new season on Netflix by 2019.

As for the first and second installments of 13 Reasons Why, these materials are still available on Netflix for streaming.
