Annabelle Comes Home, the sixth film in The Conjuring Universe, is set to give moviegoers a big scare this summer. Up for release in theaters by June 28, the film also came out with its latest trailer and newest teaser poster courtesy of director and producer James Wan.
The Annabelle Comes Home teaser, which dropped online last March 31, shows how this cinematic world has gone full circle with the scary doll back in the Warrens' home. Lorraine Warren (played by Vera Farmiga) is heard uttering that the doll calls on the other spirits from the museum to torment her family.
This movie is a follow up to the 2014 film about a rag doll who has been possessed by demonic powers. In this first film, moviegoers learned that the former owner of the doll was pushed to murder her parents before putting an end to her own life as she clutched the doll.
The Warrens got hold of the doll, and their life became hellish since then. The sequel, which came out in 2017, delved on how the doll became possessed. It was merely just a toy before it forced the little girl to kill her parents. It was known, however, that the wife of the doll maker unwittingly played to the wishes of the demon to have the spirit of her dead daughter inhabit the doll.
Annabelle Comes Home, on the other hand, has the Warrens in possession of the rag doll again because Lorraine and her husband Ed (played by Patrick Wilson) want to prevent it from causing further damage and havoc. The Warrens plan to lock the doll safely in their home's artifacts room, but its unholy power seems stronger.
"Annabelle basically activates all the other haunted artifacts in that room, so it's basically Night At The Museum with Annabelle," Wan said, as per Den of Geek.
It bears noting that the artifacts room has been featured in The Conjuring Universe before. It has the Valak painting from The Nun, so there's a good chance that more stories will expand from this setup.
Meanwhile, aside from Farmiga and Wilson reprising their roles in Annabelle Comes Home, McKenna Grace will now play Judy Warren. She's replacing Sterling Jerins because the actress has considerably grown up and matured while the film picks up just a few weeks after the first Annabelle movie. Also joining this installment is Katie Sarife as Judy's cousin Daniela and Madison Iseman as the babysitter Mary Ellen.
