The live- animated Akira is set in a futuristic Tokyo 2060 adapted in Otomo's manga under the same title. The 1988 Japanese animated film was released in Tokyo and depicts the dystopian era of 2019. It is indeed a wonderful timing as the 71-day production will start asap with over $92 million budget and a powerhouse team headed by Thor: Ragnarok's Taika Waititi.
