The return of Baskets season 4 could be in the offing. Actor Louie Anderson, who plays the mother in the series, hinted that the new season premiere is right around the corner as he enjoined his followers to get ready for the countdown.
Anderson posted a photo from Baskets season 4 to tease the fans. The comedian also revealed that the countdown to the new season should start real soon.
This news should thrill the show's followers who have been patiently waiting for the premiere of Baskets season 4. FX renewed the show last May 2018, but Zach Galifianakis already knew as early as March that the comedy series would be coming back.
In an interview with Collider, Galifianakis said that he's got some ideas for what to do in Baskets season 4. At that time, however, the network was still not making any official announcements, but things were starting to get pretty busy in the writers' room.
"I know what I want to do for the next season," Galifianakis said. "Whether that will survive in the writers' room, I don't know. I come in with my ideas, and they talk me out of it, even though it's my show."
According to TV Line, Baskets season 4 will begin its run in 2019. The network, however, has not yet announced the air date nor release any teasers to the installment.
The series usually kicks off its run every January until March. However, it has already missed its usual schedule this year although it is assumed that the show completed filming just before the end of 2018.
Baskets is co-created by Galifianakis, Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel, with the latter serving as the show's director and showrunner. In season 3, Baskets and FX cut ties with C.K. after the comedian admitted to the sexual allegations lodged against him.
The show follows the life of Chip Baskets (Galifianakis) who works as a clown. After failing to gain a spot at the Académie de Clown Française, a top clowning school in Paris, Baskets goes back home to Bakersfield and tries to get by working at the local rodeo.
Baskets have a twin named Dale (also played by Galifianakis) who heads the Baskets Career College, a vocational school. The series focuses on a sad clown's struggles in life. Though billed as a comedy, Baskets can be both hilarious and devastating at the same time. Aside from Galifianakis, the show also stars Martha Kelly as Chip's equally sad friend.
