The Rap of China was first launched in June of 2017, hoping to make an impact and a trending show for the Chinese audiences. Asian music icons Chinese-Canadian rapper-singer Kris Wu, Taiwanese-American singer Will Pan, Taiwanese rapper MC HotDog and Taiwanese rock musician Chang Chen-yue collaborated to entice the talented ones to audition as they were one-by-one presented to the producers of the show. Because of the star-studded show and its creative framework, powered with guest appearances by notable rappers such as HipHopMan, Tizzy T, PG One, BrAnT.B, Jony J, AfterJourney, VAVA, GAI, Bridge, and Ty, it fully gained its viewers and hopeful talents flooded the auditions area just to be part of the prestigious competition.

In Season 1, The Rap of China TV show was so popular that it reached 100 million views within the first 4 hours of its pilot episode, and over 1.3 billion views in more or less one month. The show was a great influence of hip hop mainstream in China, and because of that, different talents were discovered and was able to sign in on record deals. However, allegedly, The Rap of China's concept was copied from a South Korean rap competition entitled Show Me the Money. Despite these accusations, iQiyi firmly stood on their ground that they have already bought the rights of the show from CJ E&M.

And until the show's 2nd season, even though there were a considerable fading of interest from its viewers, The Rap of China went on until its last episode on Oct 6, 2018. For 2019, some new sources claim the show will continue on its 3rd season; however, the line of judges becomes vague. One reason is that apparently, the Taiwanese hip hop icon MC Hotdog has been dropped from the show leaving it to 2 judges left and 1 in search for in the future. The second reason is that reportedly, the multi-talented Chinese- Canadian actor and former EXO member, Kris Wu would not be doing The Rap of China for 2019.

Sadly, he has again transferred to iQiyi's rival, Tencent and Kris Wu will be doing the rival show Hipsters Change the World. Although viewers are still waiting for an official announcement from iQiyi and Kris Wu's rep also, the show The Rap of China will suffer so much if this will be the case. Kris Wu has been very instrumental in choosing the winners of the competition, and because of his skills and experiences, he can determine the star-quality they needed.

Unfortunately, Kris Wu has to leave EXO because of an underlying health problem. And because of the hectic demands of the famous group, Wu decided to leave the group in 2014. The Never Gone star was rumored that Korean media and his Korean holder, SM Entertainment did not pay much attention to his health. However, the largest Chinese internet portal and media, Sina, recovered his medical records and illegally released it for public knowledge.
