A recent report claims Lionel Richie warns Katy Perry about her marriage with Orlando Bloom, and he is reportedly pushing her to postpone her wedding with the actor. This story, however, has been debunked and confirmed to be a fabricated claim.

A report from OK! Magazine claims Richie is like a "father figure" to Perry and they've become closer to each other since they were both judges on American Idol. A source of the outlet contends Richie told the newly-engaged singer to "pump the breaks" and not rush to the altar. Allegedly, he told Perry not to mess with a perfectly good relationship.

The unnamed tipster asserted Lionel has gone through two divorces before finally seeing the light, so his advice to Perry is she could avoid the same heartbreak if she learns after just one. The singer allegedly appreciates her colleague's concern. However, she disagrees with him.  The alleged insider insisted Perry takes his advice and would immediately ignore it.

But according to Gossip Cop, the entire claim is a "pure fiction." A reliable source close to Perry confirmed to the outlet that the claim of the tabloid is not true at all. Richie isn't involving himself in the personal life of his colleague and he's not pushing her to cancel or postpone her marriage with Bloom.

In an episode of Live With Kelly And Ryan just last month, Perry revealed Richie and their fellow American Idol judge Luke Bryan support her engagement with Bloom. She also asked the "All Night Long" singer to perform during her wedding and he immediately accepted the offer. Richie further added it would be "a lot of fun" and he's into the "little wedding" as he feels they were all part of the family. Clearly, his statements show he's really happy for Perry and he isn't warning her about her marriage with Bloom. So, the claim of the tabloid is highly suspicious.

As per Gossip Cop, OK! Magazine already has a record of making false narratives involving the newly-engaged couple. For instance, the outlet wrongly reported over a year ago that Perry and Bloom "eloped" in Prague, and after that, the tabloid insisted the couple had a secret honeymoon in Rome. But, both claims were debunked and confirmed to be fabricated. It can be noted the two got engaged just last February, but not last year. Thus, the recent claim about Richie warning the singer is similarly false as well.
