The world was shocked when the rumors about Kate Middleton's alleged fallout with friend and neighbor Rose Hanbury hit the headlines. Things even got worst when a tabloid claimed Prince William had an affair with the Marchioness of Cholmondeley. As a lot of publications have adopted the reports, a newspaper revealed it was only fake news.

According to Cosmopolitan, the Royal family seems irritated with the rumors that Prince William cheated on Kate Middleton over Rose Hanbury that it is now taking legal action. The news started with an alleged "rural rival" between the two women, and people even got more confused about Hanbury's personality.

Rose Hanbury is the wife of a film director David Rocksavage, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, so she is the Marchioness of Cholmondeley. A marquess is said to be someone who ranks below a duke in the British peer system, making them also royals.

Kate Middleton and Prince William's Anmer Hall country home is near Rose Hanbury's house. They, too, have the same social circles. As Rose lives in the countryside, it may be the reference of the alleged rural rival between her and the Duchess of Cambridge.

The Sun earlier reported Kate Middleton was upset with the story that claimed she told Prince William to "phase out" Rose Hanbury from their circle because of the alleged fallout. The reason for their alleged feud is not yet revealed, but the American tabloid In Touch asserted the Duke of Cambridge might have had an affair with Rose. However, nothing has been proven about the claim.

So, Daily Mail's royal reporter Richard Kay revealed the feud between Kate Middleton and Rose Hanbury, and the cheating allegations thrown at Prince William were all fake news. "Both sides have considered legal action, but because none of the reports have been able to offer any evidence about what the so-called dispute is about, they have chosen to ignore it," he said.

"These hurtful rumors of a fall-out are simply false," Kay added. Prince William's lawyers from Harbottle and Lewis, on the other hand, warned the UK media of taking legal action if it repeats the reports surrounding Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Rose Hanbury, per Page Six.

UK's libel laws are different from the US as the defendant has to prove if its report is true. It is a standard that has been "historically" hard for the publications to defeat. Although the British family doesn't usually take legal action, Prince William and Prince Harry are free to do it in their own way.
