A lot is about to happen when Issa (Issa Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji) return in Insecure Season 4. As fans want to see Lawrence's (Jay Ellis) comeback, there are also reports things will be messier for the rest of the group.
In the previous season's post-show Wine Down special, showrunner Prentice Penny revealed Issa and Molly are about to pursue their romantic relationships in Insecure Season 4, and it would be "chaotic." The Los Angeles best friends seem to be having an affair with the roommates Nathan (Kendrick Sampson) and Andrew (Alexander Hodge), per Refinery29.
Penny explained Issa and Molly usually date different un-related guys. Now that they will be pursuing a romance with Nathan and Andrew, it is a big question of how will their friendship be like in Insecure Season 4.
Aside from Issa and Molly's new relationships, another chaos that may happen in Insecure Season 4 is the dominance of the newly-introduced Condola (Christina Elmore), Tiffany's (Amanda Seales) friend. The character was introduced in Season 3 Episode 6, titled "Ready-Like." Condola attended Tiffany's "over-the-top" baby shower, where she overly flirted with Issa's ex-boyfriend Lawrence (Jay Ellis).
In Season 3 finale, "Ghost-Like," it was revealed that there was something more happening between Condola and Lawrence. Their relationship would also escalate in Insecure Season 4, and it would be more than flirting.
Issa, on the other hand, has no idea that Condola is seeing her most important former lover. Condola may even have no knowledge that her possible new business partner is also Lawrence's ex-girlfriend.
So in Insecure Season 4, Issa may be working on a "very personal passion project" that involves Lawrence's new apple of the eye. So just like what Orji said on the Wine Down special, "This sounds really messy, guys."
Meanwhile, fans felt devastated when their favorite Best Buy employee, Lawrence, seemed to be out of sight in the previous season. However, he made his triumphant return in the season finale, but would he be seen in Insecure Season 4?
"There were people protesting at screenings at New York and L.A.," Ellis told Jimmy Kimmel about the alleged campaign for his character's return in Insecure Season 4, via Vulture. It was like 'No Lawrence, no peace!' I was like 'No Lawrence, no peace!' Let's bring him back."
So far, Ellis assured that there was no riot at HBO, but he could yet determine if fans would see Lawrence in Insecure Season 4. But if he would not appear, viewers could start a rally and form their picket line outside the studio. The network has yet to reveal the show's official release date, but it is expected to be out anytime this year.
