In Shadowhunters season 3 episode 18, Maryse told Magnus about her relationship with Luke and what she's excited about it. She said she is trying to further explore what she's feeling and what they were, that's why she told Magnus she didn't want to spread the news to anyone else, which he agrees.
Viewers know Magnus is a romantic guy and he really loves love, meaning he wanted to see people happy. Hearing about Maryse and Luke's relationship would also make him a little bit better, especially with his situation right now - he's struggling so much because he has lost his magic.
He could not really establish a large sense of his own identity at this point, as well as allowing himself to open up to Alec. But while the previous episode is a heartbreaking moment for him, this could also be a turning point for him since he'll eventually reach in the point of acceptance.
What Magnus needs to do now is to cry everything out and start moving forward, so he could find out the person he wanted to be now. It is also possible he could not get his magic back, and if he takes a step forward now, he'll eventually realize that he can have a life without his magic.
And if ever it comes back, he can go on and live a healthier and happier existence. Many fans are hoping that by the end of Shadowhunters season 3 episode 8, Alec and Magnus proposal would happen. But it doesn't, viewers can still see a great scene with Magnus and his future mother-in-law.
Meanwhile, in another part of the episode, fans can expect Halloween vibes in April as the episode title, "The Beast Within," already hints it would contain some spooky stuff. The synopsis suggests there will be a demon outbreak in New York City during the Halloween, so this would be the top priority of the Institute. However, although the shadowhunters are hunting for demons, Jace is more worried about Clary.
So, expect Shadowhunters season 3 episode 18 will have a combination of pain, adventure, whimsy, alongside terror - which usually comes across in Halloween. The upcoming episode will air on Monday, April 15, 2019.
