The long wait is over as Game of Thrones Season 8 has arrived last April 14 on HBO. Garnering over 12 million viewers on its premiere, the excitement and thrill are very much apparent on that day. And much more when Jon Snow has already learned the truth about his identity on the latest episode of Game of Thrones.

Jon Snow's identity was initially and partially revealed during the season finale of the sixth installment which shocked everyone. Although the fans have already come to learn that he's not the bastard of Winterfell, it is only in Season 7 that it was finally unveiled that he is not a bastard at all. As it happens, Sam and Bran, with Gilly's help, of course, were able to uncover the greatest cover-up in the history of Game of Thrones. And that is - Robert's Rebellion was built on a lie.

As you may know, Robert Baratheon's rebellion against the crown that happened many years before the events of Game of Thrones Season 1, ignited due to the notion that Lyanna Stark, a sister to Ned Stark and was betrothed to Robert Baratheon, was kidnapped and raped by Rhaegar Targaryen. Little did everyone know that Prince Rhaegar and Lyanna were apparently in love. Sam and Bran learned that the prince annulled his marriage to Elia Martell and shortly got married to Lyanna in a secret ceremony that bore fruit. Hence, Jon Snow.

But we already know that "Jon Snow" is a cover-up. His true name is Aegon Targaryen, and he is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. For more than two years, the fans contained this truth. And it came as a surprise when the first episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 already allowed Jon Snow to learn his true identity finally.

It was a mixed emotion for Jon Snow's character. And since he is now with Daenerys Targaryen, this scandalous revelation will become a barrier between them. And certainly, the supposed queen will not take this lightly.

While this revelation became one of the hottest scenes of Game of Thrones Season 8, a lot of other thrilling things also happened in the first episode.

Primarily, Daenerys, along with her two dragons, the Unsullied, and the Dothraki, has arrived in Winterfell. Secondly, Jon Snow finally reunites with Bran and Arya. Thirdly, the Golden Company has reached Westeros introducing a new character, Harry Strickland. And lastly, the reunion between Bran and Jamie Lannister.

Of course, who would not forget the White Walkers and the fact that they are now one house away from Winterfell? With all of these things at hand, it is not surprising why the fans are asking for more. But since it has been only a day or two after the premiere of Game of Thrones Season 8, the whole fandom would need to wait for another week as the second episode is set to drop on April 21, on HBO.
