The first season of Legacies has been quite a success to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals franchise. The series already obtained its green light for a new season last January. And with its recent conclusion of the pilot season, the fandom is now asking whether Candice King would reprise her role as Caroline in the show.
As every The Vampire Diaries fan knows it, Caroline is one of the lead characters from the show's predecessor series. And although her role is one of the bases of Legacies, she is not seen on any part of the first season.
This apparent absence of her was questioned by many critics and fans since her character from The Vampire Diaries is known to be very family-oriented. And everyone knows that Caroline would never leave her family, especially her twin daughters.
But while some fans are speculating a lot of things about her absence, Julie Plec, the showrunner of Legacies has already revealed why Caroline is not around. As it happens, she is on a mission to search for solutions that will prevent the death of one of her daughters due to the forthcoming ritual called The Merge.
Unfortunately for the twins, Lizzie and Josie would be merge as one after the ritual once they arrive at the age of 22. And she is being merged as one would mean that one of them would die in the process. So, naturally, being the protective and loving mother that she is, Caroline finds the most effective solution to this apparent problem.
It only makes sense though, and the reason for her absence is quite logical. It's even as brilliant as what most fans would describe it. Accordingly, many of them are now asking if Caroline will finally make an appearance on the upcoming season of the show.
The truth is - there are no confirmations yet as to whether Candice King will reprise her role as Caroline. And the same is true for the details of the cast, release date, and plot of the upcoming installment. As it appears, it is still too early to tell since the first season just wrapped up last March. So, fans would need to wait a little longer to learn more about Legacies Season 2.
But even so, the whole production of the series revealed that they are arms wide open if the actors from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals would decide to reprise their roles and join the cast of Legacies.
