Fans are now excited to witness what will happen in NCIS Season 16 Finale, titled "Daughters," with all the rumors going around. There are theories Ziva (Cote de Pablo) will make a return to the long-running television series, while there are also talks that the season finale will be the last time Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) will be seen.
"Fornell (Joe Spano) pleads with Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to do whatever is necessary to take down drug dealers in the area after his daughter is hospitalized from a drug overdose," NCIS Season 16 Finale official synopsis read. "Gibbs is haunted by aspects of the case."
Gibbs will find it hard to help Fornell in NCIS Season 16 Finale after his daughter's overdose as it brings back personal issues, which goes against his self-imposed rules. To recall, he burned rule 10 in Episode 13, titled "She," as he is still adjusting to his new reality.
Aside from Gibbs' problem, NCIS Season 16 Finale may also feature Ziva's return and McGee's exit. The show has been facing a lot of departure rumors from Gibbs to Rocky Carroll, David McCallum, and now Murray. However, no one confirmed their exit, per The Cheat Sheet.
McCallum seemed to be hinting he would take his final bow after Ducky quit his post. But, it was later revealed he only got a new assignment that might keep him in the show for another season. There were also rumors Murray would leave the series after McGee got a new job offer from a tech firm in Silicon Valley.
But in an interview with Murray, he shut down the rumors that he would leave the series after NCIS Season 16 Finale. "I'm under contract right now, so I have no plans to leave the show," he told Country Living. "I don't think McGee's going anywhere."
From exit rumors, there are also reports that Ziva would return in NCIS Season 16 Finale. Although there are no indications de Pablo would come back, the team hinted she is still alive.
But as NCIS Season 16 Finale would mostly focus on Gibbs, Ziva's possible return might not create a big impact. It is possible de Pablo might do a surprise cameo, but she might only have a relatively small role.
Ziva's appearance might only confirm she is not yet dead that might be at play in Season 17. NCIS Season 16 Finale, titled "Daughters," would be out on Tuesday, May 21, on CBS.
