Hulu revealed its plan to include Ghost Rider, Helstrom, and other Marvel series on its growing content list at the recent Newfront presentation to advertisers in New York City. The streaming network is about to feature more series that will lead by Gabriel Luna as the skull-blazing superhero.
Fans will once again see Gabriel Luna as Ghost Rider after his stint in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Hulu will bring the Man of Fire on the small screen, marking the second time the 35-year-old star portrays the character.
However, Variety reported Gabrial Luna's take of Ghost Rider on Hulu would be different from what he did in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It is in no way connected to the ABC-Marvel series, as it is set to have a "completely new iteration."
Ghost Rider is consumed by hellfire, making him supernaturally tied to a demon. He can be found on the Texas/Mexico border, where he usually reveals her alter ego that seeks revenge against evildoers to defend the innocent. However, he only has one problem: he struggles to control his power.
Ingrid Escajeda will be Ghost Rider's showrunner and executive producer for Hulu. Paul Zbyszewski and Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb, on the other hand, will also executive produced with Escajeda. Other details about the show are yet to be released.
Aside from Ghost Rider, Hulu will also bring Helstrom on its list. Runaways Season 3 is also set to be out, along with the plan to create four adult-oriented Marvel animated series, a team-up called Marvel's The Offenders, in February, per CNet.
The news comes after the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) films, like Avengers: Endgame, continuously dominating the box office. The aforementioned movie alone earned $1.22 billion on its opening weekend.
However, Hulu has yet to reveal if Ghost Rider and Helstrom will be connected to MCU's storylines. The announcement also comes after Disney revealed its detailed plans for its new streaming service, Disney Plus.
Disney owns the majority of Hulu, about two-thirds of the company, while Comcast's NBCUniversal holds the rest. The streaming network's reported rapid shift of ownership, as it is a joint venture of four media companies, and Disney's plans for Disney Plus posed questions about its position in the continuously "changing streaming-video landscape."
In addition to Ghost Rider and Helstrom, Hulu also introduced its "non-intrusive" ad formats. After it created a way to advertise when viewers pause what they are watching, it would begin a new move for marketers to target binge watchers.
