Queen Elizabeth II showed her fund side once, where she has been caught playing with male sailors during her South Africa tour back in 1917. Her Majesty, who was just 20-years-old at that time, showed a different side of her as she was seen holding hands, and getting grabbed by sailors.
In rare photos released, it showed how some male sailors traveling on the ship HMS Vanguard held and grabbed Queen Elizabeth's hand. Other photos also showed how one of the sailors wrapped his arm around the monarch. The Queen was just 20-years-old during the South Africa tour, wherein she traveled with her late father King George VI, Queen Mother, as well as her younger sister Princess Margaret.
Royal author Sarah Bradford revealed in her book, Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life In Our Times, that the South Africa tour had a "profound lifelong effects" to the royal family and also the monarchy. While there's a serious purpose behind the tour and the then-Princess also made a key-speech, Queen Elizabeth managed to enjoy herself during those times.
As shown in some of the photos, Her Majesty showed her fun side which is completely different from the usually serious-looking royal. In a particular picture, Queen Elizabeth was seen smiling when a handsome sailor wrapped his arm around her waist. At that time, she was wearing a floral dress that matched her curly hair and let it loose down her shoulders.
But aside from Her Majesty, her younger sister was also seen having fun during their tour in South Africa. Princess Margaret was seen running around on the ship, and the late Countess Of Snowdon was wearing a dress during their outing.
The same photo also showed Queen Elizabeth was smiling from ear to ear while looking at her younger sister having fun. The royal sisters were also seen playing games with a large group of male sailors on the HMS Vanguard.
Moreover, other photos showed Queen Elizabeth was holding hands with men as they stand and forming a circle on the deck. Her Majesty was also grabbed by one of the sailors who had his arm around the monarch while playing. In another shot, the Queen was seen laughing while she wheels around the deck as she tries to avoid being caught by sailors in the game.
Meanwhile, Her Majesty turned 21 while she was on tour with her family and the special day was reportedly declared as a holiday. Queen Elizabeth received a 21-stone necklace gift, and while she was in South Africa, the monarch also delivered a very inspiring speech.
