During the cast introduction, some of the sitcom's stars can be seen wiping their tears while they took their bows.

While VIPs and media were also present, devoted fans filled the soundstage bleachers. Some of them have been waiting overnight just to get seats, while others were wearing self-designed T-shirts to celebrate the 12-season run of the sitcom. The audiences laughed and gasped the entire episode, but saved their loudest cheers from the emotional bows and messages from the cast.
Meanwhile, The Big Bang Theory has already earned 52 Emmy Award nominations - with 10 wins - and seven Golden Globe nominations. The CBS sitcom debuted on September 24, 2007, and it remains to be one of the most successful sitcoms in the TV history, as well as the longest-running multi-cam comedy ever.
The Big Bang Theory series finale will air on May 16 on the CBS. Series director Mark Cendrowski reportedly helmed the finale, with creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, former showrunner Steven Molaro, and current showrunner Steve Holland all credited as writers. There were no spoilers regarding the finale, but it will reportedly include a "few surprises," "unexpected cameo," and "plenty of emotion."
