The future of The Enemy Within Season 2 remains up in the air as the current season still has three episodes to feature before it comes to an end. A lot is still to happen with Margaret Colin's coming in Keaton (Morris Chestnut) and Shepherd's (Jennifer Carpenter) investigative journey. When they finally catch the terrorist and solve the crime, will there be a chance that NBC will renew the show?
NBC has yet to reveal if it will order for The Enemy Within Season 2. But as the current season is still airing, it may be too early to tell if there will be a renewal.
According to Hidden Remote, if the show continuously takes off and displays success, there is a big chance that there will be The Enemy Within Season 2. However, it is said to be an average player on a Monday night schedule.
The series started having 5.7 million viewers and 1.17 in the demo. Reports said the beginning was not a "great start" for NBC as it relies on weekly viewers. But there is still a possibility for The Enemy Within Season 2, as the network bases it renewals with other methods like the live viewers and those watching after the episodes aired.
The Enemy Within may be saved by its overall standing. So, it remains to be seen until the current season ends. So far, the series is on the seventh rank out of all NBC's 19 shows. It is also the third best-performing program out of five that gives it the luck to be renewed.
Meanwhile, in the continuation of The Enemy Within Season 1, Keaton may finally catch the terrorist Mikhail Vassily Tal (Lev Gorn). TV Insider reported Colin would join the show as Episode 12, titled "Sequestered," guest star to play the role of a "high-profile congresswoman who used Shepherd's treason conviction as a lunch pad for her political career."
Keaton and his team managed to stop the assassination attempt on the congresswoman with the help of intelligence from a captured Tal contact. He then asked Shepherd to interrogate Colin's unnamed character that resulted in learning the truth about Tal's origins.
In The Enemy Within Season 1 Episode 12 set photos, Colin's character can be seen answering Keaton and Shepherd's questions at the FBI. This episode may be setting the stage for the season finale, and a possible The Enemy Within Season 2's coming. "Sequestered" will be out on Monday, May 13, on NBC.
