Read At Your Own Risk: This article may contain possible spoilers for S.W.A.T. Season 2

More shootings and gunfights will certainly be apparent when S.W.A.T. Season 2 returns for its penultimate episode titled, Trigger Creep.

As per the official synopsis, it largely reveals that the S.W.A.T. team will face a "lone gunman" while he is known to be at large in Los Angeles. It seems that the team will try to find his location before he strikes and hurts anyone in the city.

Although the upcoming episode of S.W.A.T. Season 2 is depicted to focus on this storyline, it is also unveiled that Hondo would decide to step back from this case. But as for the details of his decision, there is not much information given. For all we know, Hondo will try to resolve a much more personal case on his own.

Looking back at the previous episode of S.W.A.T. Season 2, the fans have witnessed how Darryl suffered from an incident leading his apparent hospitalization. And if any fan would recall it, the Day of Dead episode has become one of the most emotional installments in this season.

Hondo, being a guardian to Darryl, is basically the reason for his breakdown in the previous episode. And with what happened to Darryl, it seemingly appears that Hondo will try to investigate and resolve this situation. But whether he succeeds or not, these things will definitely reveal once S.W.A.T. Season 2 Episode 22 premieres on CBS.

It is also worth noting that the upcoming episode is already the second to the last episode of the season. And it looks like things for Hondo will not be very pleasing when the current season ends. Not to mention the fact that this season has been very personal, dramatic, and emotional.

With these factors at hand, it would be fitting to end the season with a much more heart-breaking event. Even so, these are just speculations that most fans are concluding.

Aside from the "lone gunman" case and Hondo's personal challenges, the next episode also reveals about Jessica's possible exit from the team.

While the synopsis only specifies that an unexpected "opportunity" will knock Jessica's door, it is not really impossible for the show to go with this kind of plot considering that they are now in the near endgame of the season. So, whatever this opportunity is, it will surely open doors for a possible plot if ever the show gets a renewal.

S.W.A.T. Season 2 Episode 22 is set to premiere on May 9, on CBS.
