Warning: This article contains spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 and Episode 4 that may spoil your enjoyment in discovering its plotlines. Read at your own risk.
After a heart-wrenching and full-of-goodbye episode, Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 will get down to the business - the last war. It is indeed the end as Jon Snow (Kit Harington) bid his final farewell to Tormund (Kristofer Hivju), Sam (John Bradley), Gilly (Hannah Murray), and the poor boy Ghost in "The Last of the Starks," as he made his way to fight the real enemy in King's Landing.
The war between Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Cersei (Lena Headey) will be more intense with the death of Rheagal and Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel). Fans were surprised to witness the demise of one of the two dragons when Euron (Nathalie Emmanuel) welcomed their arrival with multiple shots of huge arrows.
As their fleet also got destroyed, the Golden Company took hold of Missandei and Cersei used her as bait against the mother of dragons. Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) braved Cersei's army as he tried to make amends, but to no avail. The Queen of Westeros asked Missandei of her final words, "Dracarys," that seemed to ignite the epic battle before The Mountain (Conan Stevens) cut her head.
The fury could be seen on Daenerys' face. From the looks of it, she would do everything in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 to avenge Rheagal and Missandei. According to Comic Book, Dracarys means Dragonfire in High Valyrian. It is the same thing Daenerys tells Drogon whenever she wants it to cast fire.
Missandei wants Daenerys to burn Cersei, despite Varys (Conleth Hill) and Tyrion's warning that it will cost million of innocent lives. Cersei filled King's Landing and the Red Keep with civilians to avoid Daenerys from attacking the place with her dragons.
Meanwhile, HBO dropped Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 trailer, and it teased another epic battle is about to happen. Although the teaser doesn't reveal much information, it opens with a confused Tyrion, feeling something mysterious is about to unfold in the skies.
It also shows Cersei and her army getting ready as Jon, Tyrion, and Davos (Liam Cunningham) are watching their people arrive at the gate of King's Landing. The next scene reveals Euron's fleet and other things that are about to happen. Lastly, despite Daenerys' non-appearance, the final sequence reveals the sound of her dragon.
Clarke earlier hinted Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 would be bigger than the Battle of Winterfell. "I mean four and five and six, they're all insane," she said, via Digital Spy.
As Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 will be the penultimate episode of the season, it will surely set the stage for the series finale. Fans should also get their hearts ready to witness major deaths and losses. The yet-to-be-titled episode will be out on Sunday, May 12, at 9 p.m. on HBO.
