The powerful K-Pop all-girl sensation sees no stops in its rise to global fame. With a deserving win in the 2019 Shorty Awards for Best in Music and rapidly-expanding recognition by western fans and pop icons themselves, Blackpink is becoming one of the biggest Korean girl groups worldwide.

In the Shorty Awards, BLACKPINK competed nominees Harry Styles, Kacey Musgraves, Janelle Monae, Post Malone, and Mason Ramsey, some of the biggest names in pop music today. The Shorty Awards is a yearly awarding ceremony that recognizes the Internet's highly-recognized icons in music, fashion, culture, and other media avenues.

BLACKPINK is an all-girl Korean pop group whose members are Jennie, Rose, Lisa, and Jisoo. One thing that sets them apart from the rest of Korea's famed K-pop girl groups is cohesion. According to Jezebel, before BLACKPINK, each member had become guests of Ariana Grande, Black Eyed Peas, and even Skrillex as individual artists in some songs. However, it was only during BLACKPINK the four girls made the biggest wave in the West.

Today, the Shorty Awards just brings BLACKPINK one step closer to global domination. During their Newark concert, world-renowned female pop sensation Dua Lipa joined them onstage to perform "Kiss and Make Up," one of BLACKPINK's world-famous songs.

However, the girls are no stranger to huge western concerts. They were the first South Korean group to become Coachella's headline. This event alone has cemented BLACKPINK's reputation as a world-class group parallel to successful K-Pop groups such as all-male BTS. If this is not sufficient proof, then Niall Horan from One Direction is a huge fan. Recently, the singer has followed each BLACKPINK member's Instagram accounts and made headlines all over the pop scene.

However, it's not just Niall who's bitten by the K-Pop bug. Admittedly, Hollywood actor Ezra Miller is a confessed fan of not just K-Pop but BLACKPINK as well. The Flash star admittedly danced to "As If It's Your Last" in one interview.

True enough, there is no crystal ball that can tell anyone how much of a success BLACKPINK can be in the next few years. However, with a track record that catapults them from cult favorite to ultimate pop sensation from South Korea and Asia into the world, there's no telling how high can the all-girl K-pop group reach in their entire career.
