Netflix will continue Tom Kirkman's (Kiefer Sutherland) political journey in Designated Survivor Season 3, following ABC's cancellation after two seasons. The streaming network officially announced its plan to make the series as "global Netflix Original," and it now released its official release date.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play President Kirkman for season three of Designated Survivor with Netflix, eOne and Neal Baer," Sutherland said about Designated Survivor Season 3 on Netflix, via Radio Times. "I believe this format will allow us to continue to delve deeply into storylines and issues concerning the American electorate that were not previously possible."

Designated Survivor Season 3 is ready to be out on Netflix this year. Its first two seasons are also readily available to be binge-watched on the network.

Compared to the first two seasons, which had over 20 episodes, Designated Survivor Season 3 would only have 10 episodes. The filming already wrapped up in February after Kal Penn, who plays the role of Seth Wright, shared a post of its "last day of production."  The new season would be directed by showrunner Neal Baer.

Netflix recently dropped the official trailer for Designated Survivor Season 3. The clip gave a glimpse to Kirkman's election campaign, and it would be different from usual. If the president wanted to keep his seat in the Oval Office, he might have to fight dirty to continue leading the country.

TV Line reported fans would see Kirkman in Designated Survivor Season 3 wondering if he had screwed up his reelection campaign. The new season would also reveal who would be his running mate and the crisis it had resulted.

Hannah (Maggie Q) will get an offer for a new gig with "very high stakes" in Designated Survivor Season 3. Seth will also unleash a tirade about the state of journalism from the press room. The new season will also delve into the world of campaigning today, debates, finance, fake news, and smear tactics.

Aside from Sutherland, Q, and Penn, Adan Canto and Italia Ricci will also return to Designated Survivor Season 3 to reprise their roles as Aaron and Emily, respectively. There will also be new faces like Anthony Edwards as Mars and Elena Tovar as Isabel.

Lauren Holly and Benjamin Watson will also have recurring roles as Lynn and Dontae in the new season. Designated Survivor will be out on Friday, June 7, on Netflix.
