Queen Elizabeth II was once a stickler for the royal rules, but it seems like she is letting things slide lately, so many believe Her Majesty is getting soft due to her old age.
There were previous rumors Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle are planning to move to Africa, and royal watchers claimed Queen Elizabeth from the past wouldn't let them do this. Some claims the Queen allows the royal couple to live in another country if that's what they want, which hints she's getting soft.
Another indication, Queen Elizabeth has been lenient with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. For instance, she allowed her grandson to marry a divorced woman - which is said to be a "no-no" in the royal family. Many people also noticed Her Majesty is letting Markle break some royal rules, including the clothes she wears in public, as well as her birth plan.
But aside from Markle and Prince Harry, Queen Elizabeth also let Kate Middleton and Prince William break a few royal rules. The Duke of Cambridge broke a rule when he traveled with Prince George on their first international trip. It can be noted that multiple heirs of the throne should not travel together, as this rule is reportedly in place in case of tragic accidents.
Queen Elizabeth also bent the rules for her son Prince Charles, particularly to both of his marriages. When he married his first wife Diana, the latter was reportedly able to design her engagement ring - which is considered as breaking the royal tradition. Princess Diana chose a 12-carat oval blue sapphire ring and it is surrounded by 14 diamond, and it is the same ring that Middleton now wears.
Prince Charles wedding with Camilla Parker Bowles was also said to be a rule-breaker. As mentioned, a royal family member cannot marry someone who's been previously divorced. It can be noted the prince's second wife was once married and divorced before they tied the knot.
But then, the Queen herself was reportedly a rule-breaker as well. Perhaps, one of the biggest rules Her Majesty broke is discussing politics. It was said that royal family members aren't allowed to publicly talk politics in any form, but Queen Elizabeth reportedly discussed Brexit before.
So, is the Queen gets soft now that she's old? Looking back at the history, it was said that nothing has really changed and Queen Elizabeth was just making concessions for her grandchildren, children, as well as herself. She reportedly learned that when a royal rule doesn't make any sense, then she needs to adapt to modern standards.
