Spin-off series continuously succeeds as CBS orders for NCIS: New Orleans Season 6. The show is now included on the network's 2019-2020 TV lineup, along with NCIS: Los Angeles, as the network president confirmed Scott Bakula's return to lead the show.
"Both shows have been key pillars to the CBS schedule for several years," CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl said, via Country Living Magazine. "They offer heroic stories, big stars, and have attracted a passionate, loyal fan base. We're excited to have Chris [O'Donnell], LL [Cool J], Scott, and these terrific casts back to bring more terrific NCIS stories to viewers in the U.S. and around the world."
Although it is not yet revealed who among the show's original stars will return to NCIS: New Orleans Season 6, Kahl mentioned Bakula's name. So, there is a big possibility he would reprise his roles as Dwayne Pride. The Supervisory Special Agent might continue running the Naval Criminal Investigative Service after he regularly shares the show's return on social media.
In an interview with TV Insider, Bakula revealed he would do a "little bit more music" in NCIS: New Orleans Season 6 when asked if there is anything on his bucket list that Pride wanted to do. "We didn't do a lot of music this year. I miss that," he explained."
Bakula continued to say NCIS: New Orleans Season 6 would be different as it might be a little bit less of the "Apollyon" stories. The new season might return to tell more local and personal narratives. He also hoped Pride would relax a little this time, which was part of his bucket list.
Rob Kerkovich might also return to NCIS: New Orleans as Forensic Scientist Sebastian Lund. In a post on Twitter, the 39-year-old star already teased what is about to come when he announced the show's renewal. "SEASON SIX, BABY. At least 24 more fictional people are guaranteed to die next year!" he tweeted.
Meanwhile, Digital Spy reported it is not yet revealed what NCIS: New Orleans Season 6 would be like, but the city's agents might find a way to work without Dwayne. There are theories he might die in Season 5 finale after he got beaten death following the shot he endured in Season 4. But as Kahl mentioned his return, fans would still surely see Bakula in the new season.
CBS has yet to reveal NCIS: New Orleans Season 6's release date, but there are assumptions it will follow the previous seasons' timeline. As its predecessors are all revealed in September, the new installment may also be out in the same month this year.
