Katie (played by Grace Van Dien ) is in a delicate spot in The Village season 1 finale. Everything seems to be fine, at first, after she gets hit by a bike and gets an all clear from the hospital.

But a teaser for The Village season 1 finale reveals that Katie may be giving birth prematurely. She is shown being wheeled to an emergency room while her mom Sarah (played by Michaela McManus) assures her that things will be okay.

Will Katie lose her baby? Will Nick (played by Warren Christie) also realize that now is not the right time to leave his family? This is a tough predicament to process even while it's good to see the family coming together during a crisis and in spite of the tension.

The Village showrunner Mike Daniels revealed in an interview with AmNewYork that the finale episode is going to be a tear-jerker. However, there will also be parts that will warm the viewers' hearts so they will also likely cry happy tears.

"You're going to laugh, and your heart is going to swell too. Maybe even all three of those things at the same time," Daniels said.

Daniels also explained Katie's behavior in the recent episodes leading up to this point in The Village season 1 finale. As a pregnant teenager nursing a broken heart, Katie is scared, and it is this fear that's leading her to make impulsive choices like turning away from her mother, choosing Liam (played by Ben Ahlers), and deciding to give up her unborn child.

The showrunner also said that Claire (played by Katrina Lenk) isn't being set up to be the villain. Her main desire is to be a mom, so she's doing what she can to secure Katie's baby. But will there be a child to adopt given how things might go in The Village season 1 finale?

Meanwhile, the future of The Village renewal is still uncertain. According to Deadline, NBC has not decided on the show's status because discussions are still ongoing with the people behind the scenes.

The Village, which premiered during the mid-season, averages around four million viewers in the live weekly run. It airs Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. on NBC.
