Lamar Odom talks about regretting his infidelity to ex-wife Khloe Kardashian.

In an excerpt from the National Basketball Association player's new memoir, Darkness to Light, he reveals that he regrets cheating on the reality television star and host. Odom also mentions that it has been troubling him to this day. He goes on to say that he wishes he could have been a better man for Kardashian.

Odom and Kardashian tied the knot in 2009, after knowing each other for just a month. The former admits that the beginning was pure bliss and that he had been faithful to her for the first few months.

The length of their relationship was documented on the American reality television show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and in their very own spinoff series Khloe and Lamar. However, things went downhill from there.

He confesses on how hard it was to handle the spotlight. After all, they were one of Hollywood's hottest and wealthiest couples back in the day, making more money as a couple than they ever did individually. He says he had bouts of paranoia, anxiety, and depression from time to time.

Odom's career in basketball went on the decline after he had been traded by the Los Angeles Lakers team to the Dallas Mavericks in 2011. All the while, he had been trying to keep his worsening drug addiction as well as his string of affairs a secret. He says Kardashian would occasionally confront him about drug use and that he would get all defensive until she would unwillingly drop the matter.

Kardashian eventually found out about cocaine and affairs. They split up in 2013, after only four years of marriage, and their divorce was finalized in 2016.

In 2015, Odom suffered from a drug overdose and was unconscious in the hospital for about 48 hours. And although they had split up early on, Kardashian was at his side throughout the whole thing. He states that, when he regained consciousness, she was there showing him photographs of his mother who had been afflicted with cancer and died in his youth.

Odom asserts that he is now drug-free and opens up about his wishes on mending his relationship with Kardashian and maintaining a friendship with his ex-wife. He also adds that he misses the whole Kardashian clan and hopes to be, someday, reacquainted with them all.

His memoir, Darkness to Light, comes out on May 28.
