It was already confirmed The Flash season 6 is happening and the renewal isn't really a surprise for many since the show has been one of the most in-demand superhero series in 2018. But while its renewal status is certain, there were only a few details about it. For now, here's what we know regarding the upcoming installment.
Some reports claim The Flash season 6 will arrive in fall 2019, along with other Arrowverse series. The official date still unpredicted, but it was assumed it would be back in September. But then, the previous five seasons of the series were released early in October, so it is very likely the show will return on that same month.
As for the cast of The Flash season 6, it is expected that Grant Gustin will be back as Barry Allen/The Flash and Candice Patton as Iris West. Many are also hoping Tom Cavanagh will reprise his role as Harrison Wells and Jesse L Martin as Joe West. Other cast members expected to return in the sixth installment include Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne and Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin.
However, there were also rumors that Carlos Valdes, who portrays the role of Cisco, will not be returning in the upcoming season. Some reports claim he left The Flash because he wanted to continue his career in the Broadway.
Showrunner Todd Helbing, who has been part of the series since the pilot, has stepped down to work on new projects for Warner Bros. and he will reportedly be replaced by Eric Wallace. Hence, the sixth season might slight feel a little bit different, though Wallace isn't a stranger to The Flash because he's been an executive producer since the fourth season, and has several writing credits such as the episodes "The Flash Reborn," and "Run Iris Run."
Meanwhile, the plot of The Flash season 6 wasn't yet revealed as well, but Helbing noted the storyline has already been foreshadowed in the fifth installment. He said they have been dropping "Easter eggs," particularly in the back half of the season, about next season.
Helbing added that when the first season debuted, the series headed for a mysterious future event wherein Barry Allen disappeared. In season 5 episode "Godspeed," it showed the post-Flash future which is meant to show the origin story of Barry's superhero daughter. Therefore, some scenes in the previous season have foreshadowed the events that might occur in The Flash season 6.
