The first season of Charmed has just concluded, and it looks like the sisters are set for a huge challenge in the future. Not surprisingly, the season finale may have confirmed that the Charmed Ones will need to accept a major death and deal with an entirely different mission in Charmed Season 2.
Warning: The following article contains spoilers from the season finale. Watch Charmed Season 1 Episode 22 before reading further.
In The Source Awakens, Macy embraced her new powers and didn't waste any time putting them to work. Unfortunately, things don't always go as planned. Although Macy wanted to create a world where her mother Marisol is still alive, it just doesn't seem to work.
Macy's first try at creating an alternate reality had her arriving at Hilltowne before Marisol's death. However, Marisol still ends up dying as a side effect of the necromancer's curse. The second effort alienates Mel while Macy and Maggie lived with their mother. It seems to be the best option until Mel figures things out and confronts her sisters.
Unfortunately, the second alternate reality still didn't work as Marisol is once again killed. This time, Macy finally realizes that the problem lies within herself and creates yet another reality. It doesn't stop until their mother stepped in and somehow forced her daughters to face their true problems.
The season finale proved that the Power of Three is stronger than just about anything the Charmed Ones have to handle. However, it can't help them as they have to accept their losses. Mel finally moves on from Niko while Maggie says goodbye to Parker. Macy, for her part, had to accept that Galvin is truly gone and bringing him back will only make things worst.
Interestingly, Charmed Season 1 Episode 22 had one more surprise for the sisters. They encounter the supernatural beings they've dealt with all season and realize that someone has to take over now that the Elders are gone. The job now belongs to the Charmed Ones.
It's certainly an interesting development that will be explored in Charmed Season 2. Hopefully, the sisters can finally leave their failures behind and embrace the new challenge that is coming their way.
The series has already been renewed by The CW for a second season back in January. Production for Charmed Season 2 is already expected to start this summer.
Charmed Season 2 has not yet been given an official premiere date. The series is expected to return on The CW by Fall 2019.
