The 2020 Toyota Supra is yet to be released worldwide, but the automaker's Toyota Racing Development (TRD) department already have a sports performance version giving the new Supra a carbon fiber body kit, 19-inch wheels, and a more aggressive look.
Car enthusiasts have widely anticipated the new Toyota Supra as Toyota stopped the production of it for decades. It’s billed as the return of a legend, and Toyota did not disappoint with its recent Supra model that is reported to be more powerful than the company claims followed by the launch of this first aftermarket performance version made by TRD.
The 2020 Toyota Supra TRD version is consist of a series of aerodynamic parts made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, as well as a set of impressive aluminum wheels. On the front, a three-piece spoiler with large flaps on each end that reduce the height of the car by 14 mm. Toyota claims that this component increases aerodynamic strength at high speeds to improve stability.
When moving towards the sides, the new panels under the doors help to channel the air around the Toyota Supra 2020 TRD and, also, lower the center of gravity. On the other hand, the false air intakes of individual doors can be replaced by a piece of carbon fiber that improves the air flow to the rear.
The rear stability also increases thanks to the extensions that have been connected to the diffuser that help guide the air around the car optimally. This is where the free distance to the ground is more compromised, with a reduction of 24 mm. The new spoiler of the 2020 Supra TRD on the tailgate helps keep the Toyota Supra stuck to the asphalt when the driver squeezes its mechanics thoroughly.
The wheels of the 2020 Toyota Supra TRD are new and impressive - 19-inch light alloy multi-radio wheels add to the package. The recommended tire sizes are 255/35 on the front axle and 275/35 on the rear axle, signed by Michelin. Since the wheels are lighter than the standard units, they help reduce the unsprung mass of the vehicle and look good with their stylistic pattern.
The modifications for the TRD 2020 Toyota Supra version will only affect the aesthetic part, and everything indicates that for the moment, there are no changes in the suspension, steering, brakes, or exhaust system. This will mean that the performance of the Supra remains the same, which is currently developing 340 HP using six-cylinder versions. However, It is only a matter of time before Toyota begin to work their magic and extract more power from its engine.
The commercialization of the 2020 Toyota Supra TRD will be carried out in the Japanese market, but everything indicates that they will end up extending it to the rest of the world in a few months. Expect the price to be anything but cheap currently at 20,000 Euros in Japan.
