There is little doubt that Star Wars Episode 9 will be one of the biggest films in 2019. After all, the highly anticipated sequel is expected to be the final movie in the Skywalker Saga that followed the story of Luke Skywalker and his family. So is it possible that Luke is set for a major reunion in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? A leak from Episode IX has just teased on the Jedi Master sharing a scene with Leia Organa as well as Han Solo.
Fans were undoubtedly dismayed when Han Solo was killed off in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Unfortunately, Harrison Ford's character wasn't the only one who had been written out of the new Star Wars trilogy. Luke Skywalker also met his end in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which means that General Leia Organa and Chewbacca are the only surviving main characters from the original trilogy. Nevertheless, this hasn't stopped Star Wars Episode 9 from coming up with a way to bring back everyone for a huge reunion.
A previous report suggested that a flashback sequence in Star Wars Episode 9 will feature a young Luke Skywalker along with a young Princess Leia discussing the latter's connection to the Force. Interestingly, Luke and Leia are not the only ones who could appear in the scene. There is a huge possibility that a young Han will show up as well considering that the scene takes place directly after the events in Return of the Jedi.
Details about the Star Wars Episode 9 scene also purport that the late Carrie Fisher's own daughter Billie Lourd served as a stand-in for Princess Leia. However, it was not revealed if Lourd would be sharing the scene with Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. Although it is possible that both actors will play their own characters and will be de-aged in post-production, some believe that different actors were used to stand in for Han and Luke.
The flashback sequence is set to be an interesting one since it could potentially explain why Leia, who has been confirmed to be Force-sensitive like her brother, chose not to become a Jedi. The leak suggests that Leia may have foreseen what would happen to her son Ben Solo and actively chose to lead the Resistance as a way to prevent him from joining the First Order. Hopefully, everything will finally be revealed in Star Wars Episode 9.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled for release on December 20.
