Netflix confirmed in October 2018 that Ozark season 3 is happening. The announcement was made two months after the second season was released. But while the renewal status of the series has been confirmed, there were only a few details about the third installment. So far, here's what we know about the forthcoming season.

Right now, the release date of Ozark season 3 remains unknown, but lead actor Jason Bateman (portrays Marty Byrde) confirmed via Twitter that the series would be returning and is on its way. The first season of the show aired in June 2017, and the second installment arrived in August 2018, but since the filming for season 3 has just started, fans can expect it in late 2019 or early 2020.

Netflix hasn't officially announced how many seasons there will be for Ozark, but during the Milken Global Conference in Beverly Hills, showrunner Chris Mundy told The Hollywood Reporter there could likely be five seasons in total. If that's true, fans can expect another two seasons when the third installment concluded.

But Mundy also teased there could possibly seven seasons of Ozark, as the created team of the series doesn't stick to one idea on how they wanted it to end. He also added that fans should be prepared as the show might have an "emotional ending."

As mentioned, Ozark season 3 has just recently started filming in Georgia, Atlanta. Mundy revealed that seven of the 10 episodes have already been written, which follows Marty and his wife Wendy (played by Laura Linney) struggling with the "outside forces." He also noted that Wendy's brother will make his debut on the third installment.

It can be recalled that in the past two seasons, Wendy's brother has been suffering from some kind of mental illness and he has a questionable past. Currently, the cast of the third installment hasn't been revealed, so the character of Wendy's brother remains unknown for now.

Ozark is a hit crime thriller series on Netflix which follows Marty and Wendy doing business with a Mexican drug cartel when a money laundering scheme goes wrong. In season 2 finale, viewers saw Marty launching a giant casino boat, and he will use this to launder millions of money for the Mexican drug cartel.

Thus, Ozark season 3 will pick up where the second installment left off, and will possibly bring more troubles for the Byrde family.
