People are finally seeing new images from Star Wars Episode 9 courtesy of Vanity Fair's extensive profile on the highly anticipated film. There are awesome pictures showing new aliens and characters as well as the beloved Star Wars icon Luke Skywalker and the stars of the current trilogy. However, it looks like one particular photo had confirmed something fans have only glimpsed in the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer. We may finally have proof that Kylo Ren will be fighting against The Knights of Ren this December.

There was only a brief glimpse at Kylo Ren in the Star Wars Episode 9 trailer, but the shot was packed in action. It shows Kylo thrusting his lightsaber into a cloaked individual and bodyslamming him into the ground.

Fans already speculated that the former Ben Solo is taking on a Knight of Ren. However, there have been no updates about Kylo Ren's storyline in the new Star Wars film at that time. Luckily, the new image from The Rise of Skywalker may have confirmed that Kylo is going up against his former companions.

One of the new Star Wars Episode 9 pictures shows director J.J. Abrams with The Knights of Ren. The photo was well-received that people who have been waiting to get a better look at the mysterious characters who only showed up briefly in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Not surprisingly, It didn't take long before a fan noticed that the cloaked figure in the middle looks a lot like the same person Kylo Ren bodyslammed in the Rise of Skywalker trailer.

That's not the only hint that fans noticed about Kylo Ren's possible change in attitude. A headline about The Knights of Ren also refers to Kylo as "their onetime leader."

This isn't the first time that people have believed that Kylo Ren is set for a major redemption arc in Episode 9. The reveal of the film's official title has also led to speculations that it might be referring to Ben Solo going back to the Light and thus explaining the "rise of Skywalker." After all, Kylo was born of the Skywalker line because his parents are Luke Skywalker's sister Leia and Han Solo. Perhaps all is not lost just yet, and he will be redeemed later this year.

On the other hand, the film has also been confirmed as the final movie in the Skywalker Saga, which possibly means the end of Anakin Skywalker's bloodline. Unfortunately, The Rise of Skywalker might mean that Ben Solo will be redeemed, but it doesn't necessitate that he will survive to the end of the film. Either way, we can expect a major fight scene between Kylo Ren and The Knights of Ren in Star Wars Episode 9.

What will happen to Kylo Ren? Find out when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
