It was only a week since The Enemy Within concluded with a major shocker and people are already looking forward to Season 2. Unfortunately, NBC has yet to announce the renewal of the awesome drama. But is it possible that the network will confirm the second season in the next month? There are speculations that the next season will introduce a new villain.

In the first season finale 'Sierra Maestra,' Erica Shepherd (Jennifer Carpenter) finally met up with Mikhail Vassily Tal (Lev Gorn) and seemingly took his side when Will Keaton (Morris Chestnut) and his CIA team arrive in Cuba. However, it is revealed to be a means to get some intel from the terrorist leader. Tal informs Shepherd that a powerful person in US intelligence had assisted him in the attacks before she kills him. However, Shepherd didn't tell anyone about the revelation.

The finale concluded with Keaton making it clear that Shepherd will continue working with his team in The Enemy Within Season 2. In addition to that, the information Shepherd gathered from Tal could prove to be an important part of the next season. Although some fans believe that Tal's partner might be someone we have already met, there is a possibility that it will be a completely new character that will be introduced in the second season.

But what are the chances that The Enemy Within will be renewed? The ratings for the first season have been pretty good, and fans are already getting their hopes up on the way the finale ended. NBC will certainly be needing another thrilling spy drama considering that Blindspot is down to its final season next year. With that in mind, there is a huge possibility that Season 2 will be announced by June.

It's certainly a tense week for NBC. The network has just decided to cancel A.P. Bio after two seasons. Although there is much concern that The Enemy Within will end up being axed after its freshman run, fans are hopeful that NBC will consider giving the series another shot to prove itself as a true winner.

The Enemy Within follows Shepherd, a former CIA deputy who has been imprisoned for treason and espionage. When the Russian terrorist who forced her to betray her country resurfaces, Shepherd agrees to work with the FBI to take him down. As the first season concluded, it is revealed that there is so much more to the story than expected.
