There are a lot of things that people are looking forward to in Star Wars Episode 9, but there is little doubt that fans are hoping to get a last and heroic glimpse at Luke Skywalker. After all, some were not too happy with the grumpy old Jedi Master that showed up in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. So is it possible that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will unveil a different side of Luke when he first realized that his nephew would succumb to the Dark Side? There are speculations that Supreme Leader Snoke may have influenced Luke's actions.

In The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren revealed to Rey that he only abandoned Luke's Jedi temple after his uncle tried to kill him. However, Luke had a different side to the story: He had seen Ben Solo succumb to the Dark Side and reached for his lightsaber to prevent it. The scene was truly emotional as Luke somehow admitted that he was ashamed for attempting to murder his nephew. However, some believe that Star Wars Episode 9 will reveal that there was so much more to what happened.

There are speculations that although Supreme Leader Snoke will not be a major part of The Rise of Skywalker, his influence will still be felt throughout the film. One theory suggests that Snoke may have manipulated what Luke saw in his nephew so Ben would ultimately join Snoke and the First Order. After all, if he was capable of connecting Kylo and Rey in The Last Jedi, it shouldn't be so hard for Snoke to influence Luke's visions.

Of course, the theory wouldn't work too well if Luke succeeded in killing Ben early on. Nevertheless, Snoke may have trusted on Luke's love for his nephew to prevent him from murdering the boy. In addition to that, it is still unclear if Snoke will play a part in Star Wars Episode 9. With that in mind, it is best to take this theory with a grain of salt.

Although it is highly unlikely that Luke will face Kylo again in The Rise of Skywalker, fans can rest assured that Rey will be stepping into action this December. One of the photos from the film show Rey and Kylo engaged in a lightsaber duel in the rain while on top of what appears to be the Millennium Falcon. It's an exciting image that teases on an epic fight in Star Wars Episode 9, which hits theaters on December 20.
