Global sensation Psy recently admitted that he was friends with Low Taek Jho, a Malaysian businessman who is currently being sought by authorities for his involvement in the human trafficking and sexual abuse scandal rocking the Korean entertainment industry. The singer, however, denied any involvement in the prostitution controversy.
A report by Malay Mail cited the Instagram entry of Psy as he explained his connection to Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low on social media. According to the singer, he was friends with the Malaysian businessman and introduced him to YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk.
Psy recounted that at the time he was connected to Low Taek Jho, the latter was very active in the Hollywood industry. At the time, Psy was also very visible overseas because of the Gangnam Style phenomenon and his subsequent hits.
In a recent report by Asia One news, it was alleged that YG boss Yang Hyun Suk held parties and procured prostitutes for two powerhouse Southeast Asian investors which included Low Taek Jho back in 2014. One of the investors, who was identified as Thai businessman Bob was accused of drugging and raping one of the girls who attended the party.
Low, who brings pinpointed as the second investor, is now the subject of the scandal involving the embezzling of US $4.5 billion from the state-owned 1Malaysia Development Berhad. Apart from embezzlement charges, Low is also under fire for his involvement in the party where accusations of rape and prostitution. His representative claimed that he was not present at the gathering.
In an interview, Low's spokesperson implicated the name of Psy when he mentioned the singer's friendship with the businessman and YG's Yang Hyun Suk. The representative, however, denied all the charges lodged against his client.
According to Psy's Instagram post, he does not deny that he was friends with Low Taek Jho, but he clarified that he did not know about any illegal activity happening at the dinner. He admitted that he and Yang Hyun Suk were invited to the party under the impression that it was a regular meeting with a friend who came from far away.
He explained that after having dinner with the rest of the guests, he left the venue with Yang Hyun Suk. The singer apologized to his fans for any misunderstanding on the matter.
Psy, who put Korean back on the map for his global hit 'Gangnam Style" was a YG Entertainment artist for eight years opted to leave the agency last year to start his own company.
