Kylie Jenner never ceased to attract the attention of her fans and the netizens, maybe for a positive reason or something that they will disagree afterward. And a day with the Jenner- Kardashian clan will not end if they will not throw lavish parties for family and friends. This time, as Jenner thought it to be a harmless party for girls, netizens did not as the themed used.
The Handmaid's Tale themed party did not go well with Kylie Jenner's followers as she was the one who threw it for BFF Anastasia Karanikolaou, who turned 22. And the makeup mogul did not hesitate to even post it on social media especially as the party itself was lavishly prepared, complete with Handmaid Tale costumes and a table setting right out of one of the episodes of the hit Hulu show. Even in the video, there is no hint that Kylie Jenner or Sofia Richie seemed to have comfortable, not knowing what the controversial TV series has implied to every female viewer.
The Kylie Cosmetics owner happily said at the start of the video "You know The Handmaid's Tale is my favorite show ever... so for Stassi's birthday ... welcome to Gilead," as she enters the party. And because the issue of anti-abortion bills has haunted a few US states already, women's rights and women, in general, are very sensitive to the show's plot. The Handmaid's Tale is an American dystopian drama web television series created by Bruce Miller which features a dystopian future wherein a totalitarian society subjects fertile women, called "Handmaids," into child-bearing servitude.
The infamous Calabasas estate was decorated with banners with the symbols of the fictional nation. Guests entered the party through an entryway lined with curtains as waitstaff dressed as servant-class Marthas served drinks and used greetings that portrayed the religious aspects of the show. "Praise is" has been repeated by the servants who are also an oft-quoted phrase from the show.
Kylie Jenner even had the "Under his eye" tequila and "may the Lord open," cocktails with names like "praise be" vodka, which netizens completely detested. Twitter was on fire with their comments saying, "Who's gonna tell her that her party is celebrating female enslavement for their biological reproduction?" And because if there is already an underlying issue just recently, a commenter said: "At any time, but especially when women's rights and autonomy are particularly under attack."
