EXO's Lay is proving his strength as a solo artist as his upcoming EP Honey dominates sales records for QQ, selling close to 2 million copies in less than four minutes.
According to a report by All Kpop, EXO Lay, who is the only Chinese member left in the K-pop group, is doing well with his solo activities even though he has taken a brief break from promoting group activities with his members. His latest EP Honey is a testament to his bankability in China as pre-orders broke sales records on the QQ platform. In only 3 minutes and 27 seconds, it already sold 1.87 million copies.
EXO Lay's feat qualifies the Honey EP for the Golden Hall status of QQ. The volume of sales also broke all nine sales levels of the music platform.
EXO Lay's amazing feat is made even more interesting by the fact that the Honey EP is not yet scheduled for release until June 14. However, this also marks an achievement for the fans who vowed to support their idol in his goal to showcase a different side of himself.
Back in Korea, other EXO members have also gotten busy working on their solo albums in addition to participating in group promotions. Like Lay, EXO's Chen successfully released his first solo mini album entitled April, and a Flower two months ago and it was well received by EXO-Ls all around the world.
SM Entertainment has also confirmed that Baekhyun is also next in line to release a solo album amid much clamor from fans who loved his collaborations on Korean drama OSTs for Scarlet Heart: Ryeo and the web series EXO next door.
According to SM Entertainment, EXO Baekhyun is now hard at work on his album which has an expected release of July. While there were very little details made available about the album, EXO-Ls wondered what genre it would be and what aspect of Baekhyun's artistry it would explore.
While most of Baekhyun's work were ballads because of his wide vocal range, fans wondered whether it would also showcase the EXO member's quirky side as they have been witnessing in his new YouTube vlog. The youtube channel, which was launched just three weeks ago, shows Baekhyun as he goes about his normal activities and fans can't help commenting on his aegyo side. The vlog is already being followed by 1.6 million fans from around the world.
