In an interview via TVLine, executive producer Julie Plec shared that they are excited to introduce the new character in the series. She revealed that they really wanted to bring an "old, old-world vampire" in the show. So, the arrival of this new character in Legacies season 2 could bring new energy.
It can be recalled that there were rules in the school that only teenage vampires were allowed - not a hundred years old vampire. But, Plec explained they wanted to introduce a new vampire who was actually desiccated when he was only 17 in the 15th century, so when he wakes up in the 21st century, he'll realize that the rules being a vampire changed and would also realize he's not fit in the modern world.
A lot of fans were thrilled with the news and believe that the arrival of a new vampire would be fun. One of the most exciting things when Legacies season 2 returns is that Hope will have a chance to become more of a mentor rather than the one who constantly seeks advice. She could be the one who can help this new vampire to fit in and adapt to the modern world.
The view of this new vampire in the world is entirely different from everyone else - largely because he lived in the "old, old-world vampire." It's safe to say that there would be some drama and chaos coming up, as he could be lurking around and might be a threat to the humankind.
As for the cast of the upcoming season, many are hoping that the entire cast will be back on the action. It is expected that Danielle Rose Russell will return as Hope Mikaelson, along with Matt Davis as Alaric Saltzman, Vampire Diaries alum Candice King as teacher Caroline Forbes, Quincy Fouse as Milton MG Gladstone, and Peyton Alex Smith as Rafael.
Meanwhile, The CW has not yet revealed the official release date of Legacies season 2, but it will reportedly air some this fall 2019. It can be noted that the first season aired back in October 2018, so it's very likely that the second installment will arrive around that same month.
