Ariana Grande posted a sweet and heartfelt Father's Day greeting to honor her own father, Edward Butera.
The 25-year-old singer has not made the rocky relationship she has with her father a secret over the past few years. However, despite the bad blood and tension existing between the two, the singer still took to Instagram to post a story of herself and her father, along with a brief Father's Day greeting.
The photo shows herself and Butera after one of her concerts. The photo was taken during her June 1 stop on her Sweetener World Tour. The pair are seen posing outside the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. The two were standing in front of a humungous poster of Grande's face that was promoting her already-sold-out tour.
The star shot her most wacky pose in front of the camera while clad in an oversized black sweater with thigh-high cream boots and her signature hairstyle: a high ponytail. On the other hand, Butera was in a black shirt and jeans while holding his pop star daughter by the waist and smiling widely for the photograph.
The actress and singer wrote a little "foreva" on the upper left side on the pic. A short and sweet tribute to her dad on his day.
Grande had initially posted that picture on the same night of the performance in Miami and had captioned it with exclamation marks. On the other hand, the singer's father had also posted some pictures of the time he got to experience seeing his daughter fire up the stage.
He had captioned those photos on his Twitter with little notes of how proud he was of her showmanship and success. He also praises her nonstop about her talent and just how much she has grown over the years. Those tweets have continued to baffle Arianators who know of their estranged relationship.
In an interview in 2014, Grande had opened up about her rocky relationship with her dad. She talked about how it was one of the toughest struggles for her when the two had fallen out. She also confesses that, for a time, she had found it hard to embrace the fact that she would always be half of her father, for most of her characteristics came from him.
She had hated those parts of her that she got from her dad and struggled to accept herself for it. She revealed that later on, she has realized that it was okay to have trouble getting along and understanding somebody and still love them, especially when they are family.
