Read at your own risk: This article contains major spoilers for Elite Season 2.
In October of 2018, Netflix has released a new teen drama series that immediately caught the attention of many. While it has been deemed as the "Spanish cousin" of Riverdale, 13 Reasons Why, and Gossip Girl, the Spanish language series offers much darker and more mature contents.
As it happens, the first season of Elite has shown its viewers and fans a much deeper and darker look at today's secondary schools. In fact, many reviewers attest that they've experienced nothing like this way back in their high school years.
With all of the murder mysteries, intense nudities, and thrilling high school dramas, The Oprah Magazine claims that most people today have never seen quite anything like this in today's teen drama series. Accordingly, it made Elite much edgier and more apparent to accolades than most teen drama shows in recent times.
Having only a total of eight episodes during its pilot run on the streaming giant, it already attracted a lot of fans and viewers. Not to mention, it immediately received nominations and awards from various cliques in the industry as reiterated by Pop Sugar.
This is why it is only rational as to why Netflix renewed the show for a new season just after a few days of the pilot premiere. And this is very unlikely to happen in terms of Netflix's renewal decisions.
The main plot of Elite started when an exclusive private school in Spain (where the elites of the society study), Las Encinas, awarded scholarship grants to three underprivileged teens, Nadia, Samuel, and Christian.
Nadia becomes friends with Guzmán, who appears to be quite attracted to her, whose girlfriend is Lu, a character that you'll either hate or love, or even both. Samuel, on the other hand, starts to date Marina, an edgy yet popular girl in the school, who got pregnant, at the same time, with Samuel's brother, Nano.
Things started to clash as the three new students are culture shocked. And in the middle of the course, Marina was murdered.
Although the plot seemingly points at Nano as the murderer, the finale of the first season revealed that Polo and Marina were in an argument that turned out to be quite physical and eventually causing him to hit her with the school's trophy. Nano and Sam arrived at the scene a few moments later and saw Marina on the floor.
For Elite Season 2, many are convinced that the plot will continue where it last left off. And based on the theories, there are notions that Polo might not be the real killer after all.
But of course, these are just speculations and nothing is certain yet. And it seems that the best course of action is to wait for Elite Season 2's premiere on Netflix this September.
