In 2018, former Suits actress Meghan Markle married Prince Harry and just one month after their wedding, there were reports claiming that Queen Elizabeth II has been nurturing her. The report noted that the reigning British monarch does not want the Duchess of Sussex to be like Princess Diana.

A report from Express in 2018 noted how doting Her Majesty was to Markle, particularly during an official royal outing to Cheshire. The report said that Queen Elizabeth probably wants to avoid history repeating itself when it comes to the Duchess of Sussex.

Many believed the monarch has been very supportive of Prince Harry's wife, especially after she becomes an official part of the royal family. As mentioned, the Queen invited the Duchess of Sussex to a royal engagement just one month after her wedding with the Duke of Sussex.

The former actress accompanied Her Majesty to Cheshire and spent a night on her train. This is reportedly an honor that even Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton never had. During those times, the Queen and Markle were even seen leaning in towards each other, chatting, and giggling.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams explained at that time that Princess Diana never received such sort of treatment and she's never shown the ropes. Markle, on the other hand, is reportedly being "nurtured" in a different way.

The outlet mentioned the "Meghan-mania," and since Queen Elizabeth received criticisms following Princess Diana's death back in 1997, she now reportedly wanted to make sure that the Duchess of Sussex feels welcome in the royal family and knows how to handle her new life as a royal.

There were also rumors back then that Her Majesty isn't favored Princess Diana being called as the "People's Princess." So, following the Princess of Wales' death, the monarch developed a chilly reputation to some royal fans.

But although the reports speculated that Her Majesty's treatment to Markle likely lies in history, Fitzwilliams said that the two royal ladies have a "strong connection." The royal commentator commented that the chemistry of the twos seems to be genuine and that Queen Elizabeth sees what's good for the royal family.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward also has the same theory, noting the Queen serves as a guiding hand to Markle to get used to her new life. She said Her Majesty knows the possible pitfalls if she wouldn't give a guiding hand to the new members of the royal family, and it's reportedly all about the monarchy, and she can't expect that the Duchess of Sussex will know everything without being shown.
