Cersei (Lena Headey) didn't get the elephants she asked for in Game of Thrones Season 8, but a more extinct creature of its kind is about to make its way on the prequel. The Twitter page dedicated to revealing behind-the-scenes photos of the show's production gives a glimpse of a location with an image of a mammoth.
Just like the original series, the Game of Thrones Prequel's production set is filled with signage of filming locations. One sign got Twitter user Bloodmoon_locations_IRL's attention for bearing an image of a mammoth.
It has been numerously reported that the Game of Thrones Prequel would be set thousands of years before the original series. So, viewers are about to see different Westeros, characters, and even creatures in this new world.
Where might we be today? There's a hint in the brown sign in the background :)

Earlier set photos revealed a cave, which believed to be used as Children of the Forest's home. So, the coming of the mammoths in the spinoff series is not impossible.
Mammoths have been associated with the eras of dinosaurs and caveman, per Comic Book. This creature was even seen in the original series as an ally to the Free Folks. They were also featured attacking Castle Black with the giants and wildlings in Game of Thrones Season 4 Episode 9, titled "The Watchers on the Wall."
From the looks of it, mammoths will play a significant role in the Game of Thrones Prequel. According to CBR, VFX producer Steve Kullback and supervisor Joe Bauer noted including this creature in the series needs four crew members and an extensive work of visual effects.
However, a street sign only hints the mammoths' appearance; it has yet to be revealed if the graphic artists would use the same method they did in the original show to the prequel to create them. Within the mythology of the show and George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novel series', on which the original series was based, it is hailed from Beyond the Wall.
The wildlings and giants use it as beasts of burden. In the ancient period, when the Game of Thrones Prequel will take place, mammoths, along with direwolves, are triumphantly flourishing.
If there will be a lot of mammoths in the Game of Thrones Prequel, HBO may allot more budget for it. Although creating and including this creature in the spinoff series may not as expensive as the highly detailed dragons, it doesn't come cheap either.
So, it looks like it may take a little while before fans can confirm if there will be mammoths in the series. The Game of Thrones Prequel may not hit the small screens until 2021.
