Netflix has yet to announce if there will be Girls Incarcerated Season 3, but the hopes are high that the series will continue. After the show moves into a new location for Season 2, there are assumptions that the next chapter may tell a new bunch of stories from another correctional.
Season 1 featured the girls from Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility in Indiana. But as the place has been shut down, Season 2 moved into a new location at the LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility.
So if Netflix greenlights Girls Incarcerated Season 3, it may feature a new set of young girl inmates in another correctional. However, Cinema Blend included the show on the list of series that will be renewed and canceled.
It reported Girls Incarcerated Season 3 would be in the works, but it would be its final bow. Netflix has yet to confirm the said information, so it may only be a mere assumption.
According to Bustle, there was a big gap between Season 1 and Season 2's released. Netflix dropped Season 1 in March 2018, while Season 2 was out on June 21 this year. The closure of the Madison facility reportedly affected the second season's production, so it might be the reason Season 3 has yet to be renewed.
Compared to other documentary television series, it might be best to have Girls Incarcerated Season 3 around. The show emphasizes the importance of education and guidance to young people to break the cycle of criminality.
It also addresses the dangers of the capitalistic prison system that seems to take advantage of teenagers, who are often at risk and end up as victims, just like how the show portrays. In the series, the girls are called students. They also need to complete a program instead of serving a sentence to prepare them for the outside world.
So, it may not be that far that Girls Incarcerated Season 3 may be in the works with the story it is covering. The Cinemaholic noted the show only requires a small budget because of its set structure so that Netflix may announce the renewal in no time.
