It looks like James Gunn's evil Superman movie will continue in Brightburn 2. The first film, which recently hit the big screens, ended with an open door that might continue the tale of the sinister man of steel, along with the evil versions of other DC characters.
Brightburn followed the story of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, but director David Yarovesky made a significant difference with its twist. Brandon Breyer (Jackson A. Dunn) used his superpower to terrorize people. He broke his classmate's hand and killed her mom.
He also killed his own father and mother, and crashed a plane full of people to hide what he did. At the end of the movie, different news clips showed he was wreaking havoc in Kansas.
Brandon believes his purpose is to take the world, and it may continue in Brightburn 2. If ever the second movie happens, it may explore another classic Superman origin story with a twist.
However, Screen Rant noted there is already a tale about the evil Superman in the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us. Here, Superman has lost his morals, turned evil, and reigned as the highest leader of everyone.
Although it may seem too much for Brightburn 2, the first movie has made its way to make it happen. The end of the first film also showed a clip from a YouTube conspiracy theory show hosted by The Big T (Michael Rooker).
The Big T revealed Superman is not the only one being who has a superpower living in this world. He believes there are more "superhuman serial killers" out there waiting to conquer the world.
There is said to be a half-sea-half-man monster that sinks ships. There is also a witch who uses a rope to choke people to squeeze the truth out of them. From the looks of it, there will be evil versions of Aquaman and Wonder Woman in the Brightburn universe that Brightburn 2 may introduce.
Hence, Brightburn 2 may form an evil Justice League. The first movie seems to imply that the sequel may make it happen by including a story where Brandon and his pals clash with one another as they plan to dominate the world.
It may also adopt an evil version of the 2017 movie Justice League, where Brandon and his fellow wicked superheroes will unite to bring down the real heroes. So far, Sony and Screen Gems have yet to announce if there will be Brightburn 2.
