"Final Fantasy VII Remake" according to Square Enix will be released on March 2020. However, between now and the release date, it is highly anticipated that more details about the fan-favorite game will be revealed. Just recently, the game director himself revealed more juicy details that we do not about the upcoming title.

In one of his most recent interview with Famitsu, "Final Fantasy VII Remake" director Tetsuya Nomura talked about Materia and what can we expect of it in the upcoming game. The most recent interview aligned with the talks concerning Aerith and Tifa's character models. At the Square Enix's E3 event, it was established that the Materia will still be a part of the game.

However, Nomura-san revealed in the interview that players will not have access to the same Materia that were available in the original version of the game. Although this could upset many fans, the game director clarified that there will be new Materia in "Final Fantasy VII Remake" as well. The Materia will be different, but their properties will stay the same.

It was also established during the interview that the Materia will show on the characters when they are equipped. This was, in fact, shown during "Final Fantasy VII Remake's" presentation where Cloud was shown with a green Materia orb armed on his Buster Sword. Nomura further explained that because of several changes made to the game, there will be new Materia with the old ones no longer appearing.

It is worth noting that "Final Fantasy VII Remake" will no longer feature random encounters. This means that things have to be updated to work seamlessly with the new system. Apparently, this could explain why the developer decided to remove or add some Materia.

For those unfamiliar with the Materia, it is an energy source that enables characters to summon or cast magic in the "Final Fantasy" world. From the interview, it is confirmed that players can still use Materia in the way it was used in the original version. However, with the combat system being a little bit different now, there are some Materia from the original version that will no longer be included in "Final Fantasy VII Remake."

From the E3 event, "Final Fantasy VII Remake" is a promising title with an extremely vast world to navigate and a new combat system but will still make you feel like it's the classic version of the game.
