BLACKPINK has unlocked another achievement after it was announced that their collaboration with Dua Lipa became the most streamed song by any Korean act in Spotify history.
According to a report by E! News, the song Kiss and Make Up which was released by BLACKPINK with Grammy winning international artist Dua Lipa has already accumulated 247 million streams on Spotify.
This record means that BLACKPINK has surpassed the record previously held by BTS for their song Fake Love which has an accumulated number of 205 million streams to date.
BLACKPINK and Dua Lipa first released their collaboration for Kiss and Make Up in October of last year, so this means that the record managed to chart this milestone in the short period of only eight months.
Kiss and Make Up was a track co-written by Dua Lipa and YG Entertainment's top producer Teddy Park. The BLACKPINK and Dua Lipa collaboration have sold over 1.5 million digital copies all over the world apart from its streaming record.
It can be recalled that Dua Lipa reunited with BLACKPINK on stage last May to perform Kiss and Make Up in time with Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rose's performance at the Newark Prudential Center for the US leg of their Your Area World Tour. Fans were excited over the reunion and so were the girls as they got a chance to catch up with the international artist backstage, Billboard reported.
The accolades just keep coming for the group as it was announced by YG Entertainment that BLACKPINK added another notch to their winning streak on Youtube as another dance practice video hit 100 million views. In their post on the YG Family Twitter page, the agency congratulated Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose when their dance practice video for Forever Young hit the milestone 100 views. The agency also thanked the BLINKs, the official fandom of BLACKPINK for their support.
Apart from their official music videos, BLACKPINK's dance practice videos have also been earning a ton of views on the streaming platform. Also earning the girls 100 million views are Kill This Love, As If Its Your Last, and DDU DU DDU DU.
BLACKPINK also continues to gain popularity overseas as they have been nominated for two categories for the Teen Choice Awards 2019. Their song DDU DU DDU DU is nominated for the Choice Song Category while the girls also face stiff competition in the category of Choice International Artist.
This is the second year BLACKPINK has been nominated for the category which has been dominated by fellow Kpop act BTS in the past two years, reported BT.
