Outlander will not be coming at the San Diego Comic-Con this summer 2019, the Starz PR has recently confirmed. The official Twitter account of the network said the show wouldn't have a panel this year, and the series will be featured within the Starz booth.
Many weren't surprised the show wouldn't come this year, largely because it wasn't present at the SDCC last year as well. At that time, Starz chose to do the New York Comic-Con instead. It is much more surprising if the series would be coming at the SDCC this year, especially since the filming is still likely going on for Outlander season 5.
While @Outlander_STARZ won’t have a panel at #SDCC this year, it will be one of our shows featured within the #STARZ booth as we celebrate some of our epic original series! https://t.co/xsSfU9VXSp — STARZ PR (@STARZPR) June 26, 2019
Booking talent for such conventions wouldn't be easy at all; it's expensive to fly in the talent, to arrange everything, and to get the convention space. Also, most studios and networks do not bring their shows there if they wouldn't premiere a few months after it.
For instance, Warner Bros. decided not to bring Legends of Tomorrow this year since the series will not be released until 2020. Also, most viewers think it would be perfect in the Outlander panel will be present at the WonderCon 2020 in Anaheim.
The convention is also owned by the same people as the SDCC and many shows have already made official panels here. It will also happen in the spring, which is around Outlander season 5 would likely return on Starz.
Hence, the show could easily make one of the big headlines at the convention. For now, the entire cast is still having a great time working on Outlander season 5.
Meanwhile, the season 4 finale is a tearful and emotional one, though it left some fans a little bit confused. It can be recalled Briana Fraser gave birth to her son, but Jamie and Claire weren't present at that time.
Fans wondered as to why the parents weren't at the event, though some speculated they were trying to rescue and save Roger MacKenzie from the Mohawk tribe. Some reports noted there's a possible major book change for Jamie Fraser in Outlander season 5.
He might likely have a tough decision in the upcoming season, as it can be noted the character was tasked with capturing his godfather Murtagh in the fourth season. There were speculations that Jamie will spring his godfather from capture in Outlander season 5, while another theory suggests he would use Roger to stand-in as Murtagh.
