Prince William knew since his childhood what he would be in the future, and the huge responsibility attached to it. That is why at an early age, he's been very careful of choosing his friends, his circle so that he knows who he can trust and those who will just take advantage of his future throne.

Being a student, the young Prince William has been exposed to all kinds of people, and even at a young age, he knows how to discern and be strict to those who want to know him more. His specific strategy is to spread false news about himself and find out who will fall on his trap.

That way, Prince William will know who is giving all the news to the media, and when he finds out who he or she was, that person will be tagged to some difficult circumstances. It would mean not being able to study at the university, or he or she will be considered as a nuisance fan or social climber.

Royal Biographer Andrew Morton wrote the book William and Catherine, and he narrates how the young Prince William will never forget those who abuse his trust, although he is not at all a vindictive person. His trust issues came from various training and experiences like a royal and future King of England; it might not be personal. However, every King deserves a loyal and trustful ally, filtering those who do not qualify his standards.

One example was a female student who was blacklisted by the prince and his circle, and unfortunately, her actions owe her a lifetime of doubt and no chance of forgiveness from the royal. Sadly she is not the only one who was treated less by the privileged inner circle. Even Kate Middleton has experienced the harsh treatment of his circle and allegedly felt that she was just "a servant" with Prince William.

The young Duchess of Cambridge is pretty and sensible. However, she was not among the family of aristocrats or even a member of European royalty. With these reasons, she was not entirely welcomed by Prince William's friends and would sometimes feel unhappy felt that she was taken for granted.

That is why, in almost two unfortunate times, Prince William and Kate Middleton had to part ways or break up their relationship as they undergo "trial separation" in 2004 shortly after graduating university, followed by another one in 2007. Now the royal couple is happily married for eight years with three adorable heirs to the throne, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
