Long before Meghan Markle married into the royal family, she had her own thing going on for some time. And prior to her becoming the royal Duchess of Sussex, she had done pretty impressive things with her life at such a young age alongside her booming Hollywood career as an actress in the widely tuned into American drama series, Suits. Here are the top 10 lesser known facts about the new addition to the royal family.

1. Although the public has come to know her as Meghan Markle, the Duchess' first name is actually Rachel. Her full name in all her legal documents like her passport, driver's license, and such, is Rachel Meghan Markle.

2. Meghan spent the first few years of her primary and secondary education in a Catholic school exclusive for girls. She spent six years in the school where she had penmanship class for the whole time she was there.

Apparently, this was where her love for cursive writing blossomed. And because of her neat and elegant script, she worked for a time as a freelance calligraphy artist and writer. She is credited for having hand-made every single wedding invitation of Robin Thicke and Paula Patton in 2005, before they eventually split up years later in March 2015.

To make ends meet, Meghan also taught calligraphy classes at the store she worked at in Beverly Hills, about five years before her big break as an actress in Suits.

3. At the young age of 11, Meghan was already an active advocate for women's rights. While watching television, Meghan had seen a dishwashing commercial from Procter and Gamble on television. Apparently, the commercial had a tone of sexism that did not stick well with the eleven-year-old Meghan.

So she wrote a letter to the company asking to revise the ad and make it more gender-sensitive, and to her surprise, the company responded with an apology and altered their televised campaign.

4. She has an unparalleled love for both theater and politics. This drove her to double major in international affairs and relations and theater at Northwestern University. Later on in her junior year of college, she applied and got accepted as an intern for the U.S. Embassy and started working in the Buenos Aires embassy when she was 20 years old.

5. Long before she was the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan had other jobs in order to provide for herself and her family. At one point, she was a briefcase model for the show Deal Or No Deal.

She was also constantly going to castings and auditions for several other less famous and short term on-camera jobs. That until she landed the part of a sultry paralegal infatuated with one of her firm's top lawyers in Suits.

Yet there was more in store for her. She then went on to marry Prince Harry, and the pair have been granted the title of Duke and Duchess of Sussex and have very recently welcomed their first born son, Archie Harrison, into their quick expanding royal family.

Although she seems to be infamous with the media, receiving tons of backlash and criticism from people all over the world for a number of things like her mixed ethnicity, stubbornness, and style, the Duchess of Sussex is unfazed by the unpopular public opinion of her and gracefully continues in her duties as a duchess, a wife, and a mother.
