The American pickup truck market has only one king, the Ford F-150. The latest iteration of that truck is a testament to this achievement. After several years in the making, Ford is finally releasing a new and improved iteration of its famed and loved pickup truck.

The newest Ford F-150 will be a 14-generation model, this is an evidence to the enduring legacy of the truck. Normally, Ford would release a new model for its trucks on a seven-year cycle. The car manufacturer is breaking that cycle with the new F-150. The last model of the truck was released in 2015. Nevertheless, Ford's decision to cut this cycle short has a great upside to it. The pickup truck segment of the market is currently America's most popular segment and the most profitable. Ford is looking to grab that market potential with the new F-150.

Currently, the Chevy Silverado and the Ram 1500 are dueling out for the right to be in second place. Ford is essentially not intimidated with that. The company is the default pickup of choice for a majority of Americans, and the new Ford F-150 is deemed to be no exception to that.

A couple of photos of the supposed 14th generation F-150 have been circulating the Internet and many forums. The truck has been seen doing test drives on public roads. What even more interesting here is what appears to be two different models of the truck, one is believed to be the Crew Cab version, and the other is the Super Cab. Despite the heavy camouflage, it is still quite obvious as to what changes Ford has made on the exterior of the truck.

Under the hood, the new Ford F-150 will sport a new engine. This goes without saying since almost every new generation of the truck sports a new, or at least an improved, engine. Rumors have it that the truck will be available in a range of EcoBoost engine and the standard diesel model. What interests many analysts and forums is the fact that the new F-150 might sport a new powertrain.

Ford has kept the public in the dark as to what are the upgrades on the new F-150. One thing is sure though, the truck will not be available until at least 2020. Once it hits the market, the new Ford F-150 will be dubbed as a 2021 model.
