Gaeta mayor Cosmo Mitrano confirmed the filming of the Game of Thrones Prequel in Italy, and he, too, looked excited about it. The head of the city government is proud to see their place as the location for international production and announced they are all ready for it.

"A great, great satisfaction to read the name of Gaeta as the location of a very successful international television production: Game of Thrones," Mitrano said, translated by Winter in Coming. "After years of hard work to make this important tourism sector grow ... our city is ready to host the Bloodmoon prequel! Gaeta, its natural, scenic, and historical beauties will be admired all over the world. Infinite joy..."

Mitrano also revealed Gaeta had an exciting 2018 when several films were also shot and set in the city. It was also used as the location of My Brilliant Friend Season 2. Some scenes of The New Pope, which is also an HBO original series, were also filmed here.

HBO is reportedly getting ready to start its shooting at the Grotta del Turco, a Turk's cave near the town of Gaeta. It features a rocky landscape overlooking the sea. Gaeta News 24 noted the production might begin in the second week of July and scenes might involve a "large rowboat."

Meanwhile, HN Entertainment revealed art director Max Klaentschi, who also worked for Chernobyl, might work on the Game of Thrones Prequel series pilot. People behind the spinoff series might have been impressed with Klaentschi's work on the critically-acclaimed HBO miniseries.

Klaentschi is expected to match or even surpass the visual effects of Game of Thrones. Aside from him, another Chernobyl production designer, Luke Hull, would also work on the prequel. From the looks of it, HBO has enough trust to the people behind the nonfictional TV series after its success, turning as the biggest show of the decade.

The Game of Thrones Prequel is said to be set thousands of years before the original series occurred. It would chronicle the time when the White Walkers came to Westeros and the Night King's history. It is under the working title Bloodmoon, but recent leaks suggest it may be its official name.

Kingsman's Jane Goldman and Jessica Jones and The Defenders' S.J. Clarkson work as the showrunner and writers of the much-awaited Game of Thrones Prequel. Its cast members, on the other hand, include Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Jamie Campbell Bower, Toby Regbo, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, Ivanno Jeremiah, Denise Gough, and Sheila Atim. It is expected to be out in 2021.
