Legacies season 2 is arriving this fall, and one of the most asked questions is: if there's a chance it will bring back some of the characters from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. While nothing is certain at this point, showrunner Julie Plec teased "some of the Originals" might appear.
Legacies followed the path of its successor shows and fans know for a fact it had DNA from these two series. After all, Matthew Davis and Danielle Rose Russell are part of the cast, and some characters already appeared along the way. But, the spin-off has tried to establish its own identity to get its audience.
In Legacies season 2, there could still be some possible crossover from these two shows. It is probably the right time to bring back some of them, especially since Hope has been suspended in a strange prison between dimensions, so the characters from the shows might appear to help her get back.
According to a report from TV Guide, Plec revealed there's an opportunity to see "some of the Originals." While she isn't certain who's coming back and when would that be, the showrunner said with Hope's storyline shaping up; there's absolutely a link to the family that was left behind.
Plec noted they would address that matter at some point and it would be nice to see familiar faces as well. As for who's returning in Legacies season 2, writers are probably considering a few different people. For instance, it could bring back someone dead - since everything in the show is almost possible.
Also, Freya might appear as she still has a story to tell, or Rebekah and Kol might be back at some point. These three are very much alive in the narrative, so their appearance in the spin-off is very likely.
However, even though it's nice to see some of the surviving Original family members arriving in Legacies season 2, it still raises a question if do they even remember Hope. She was erased from the hearts and minds of those who knew her after diving into the Malivore pit.
Meanwhile, another familiar face some fans wanted to see is Caroline Forbes (played by Candice King). While Plec didn't confirm that matter, she still said the character's appearance in Legacies is very likely. She noted the desire of bringing Caroline in the show remains strong; it's just a matter of finding the right story for the character.
Legacies season 2 will premiere on October 19, 2019, on The CW.
